Everything you need to know about leagues
An esports league is a long-form competitive format where teams play scheduled matches over weeks or months, accumulating points in a standings table. Unlike tournaments (which are typically single events with elimination brackets), leagues feature regular matchweeks, ongoing rankings, and often conclude with playoff brackets for top teams. Leagues are ideal for building sustained competitive communities.
Creating a league on ReadyRaider is free. Sign up, click 'Create League', set your game, team size, and scoring rules, then invite teams to join. You can configure matchweek schedules, set up divisions, enable ELO rankings, and customize playoff formats. Teams register, play their scheduled matches, report results, and climb the standings.
ELO is a skill-based rating system that adjusts based on match outcomes. When a lower-ranked team beats a higher-ranked team, they gain more points (and vice versa). ReadyRaider automatically calculates and updates ELO ratings after each match, providing accurate skill rankings even when teams have played different numbers of matches.
Yes! ReadyRaider supports multi-division leagues. Create separate divisions based on skill level (e.g., Gold, Silver, Bronze), region, or any criteria you choose. Each division has its own standings, and you can set up promotion/relegation between divisions at season end.
Matchweeks are time periods during which specific matches must be played. You can create weekly schedules where teams are assigned opponents, or let teams schedule matches flexibly within the matchweek window. ReadyRaider tracks which matches are pending, completed, and overdue.
At season end, you can run playoff brackets featuring top teams from the standings. ReadyRaider can automatically seed playoffs based on final standings or ELO ratings. You can also start a new season, optionally carrying over teams and resetting standings while preserving historical records.
Teams (represented by Squads on ReadyRaider) can request to join public leagues or be invited to private ones. Once accepted, team captains schedule matches, submit lineups, report results, and track their standing. League admins can approve registrations, manage rosters, and resolve disputes.
ReadyRaider leagues are 100% free with no hidden costs. There are no limits on the number of teams, matches, or seasons you can run. Premium features like ELO tracking, playoff generation, and Discord integration are all included at no cost. We want every gaming community to have access to professional league tools.
Yes! Connect your league to Discord for automatic notifications when teams register, matches are scheduled, results are reported, and standings update. Keep your community engaged and informed without manually posting updates. Works with any Discord server.
Leagues work great for any competitive game with team-based or 1v1 formats. Popular choices include MOBAs (League of Legends, Dota 2), FPS games (Valorant, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty), sports games (FIFA, Madden, NBA 2K), fighting games, and racing games. Any game where you want ongoing competition rather than one-off events is perfect for leagues.
